James G. Fannon, Founding Principal

Mr. Fannon provides solution-focused employment counsel and representation to employers, and he has done so for more than two decades.  After a dozen years of big-firm practice with DrinkerBiddle, Mr. Fannon stepped out of his Counsel position there in February 2009 and established the Law Office of James G. Fannon, where he continues to represent and defend employers of all sizes, in various industries, from small, start-up local companies to multi-billion dollar, multi-national organizations.

Mr. Fannon’s guiding principal has always been, “The client’s success is my success.”  Perhaps it was Mr. Fannon’s pre-law school business experience that provided him with an acute appreciation for the importance of providing solution-focused, business-sensitive, efficient and cost-effective legal services.  Mr. Fannon worked for Navistar Financial Corporation (formerly International Harvester Credit Corporation), where he was promoted through various positions from Assistant Finance Sales Representative to Collection Supervisor.  While with Navistar Financial, in addition to supervisory and collection duties, Mr. Fannon managed bankruptcy files for the Northeast Region and in doing so developed relationships with outside counsel, assigned files, and oversaw legal budgeting and billing.

Before completing college, Mr. Fannon served in the U.S. Army as a Legal Specialist at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center—now the University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus—just outside Denver in Aurora, Colorado.

Mr. Fannon graduated first in his law school class in 1996.  He earned a Juris Doctor, with highest honors, from Rutgers School of Law at Camden in May 1996, with a cumulative GPA of 3.99, ranking him 1 of 214.  Mr. Fannon received numerous academic scholarships, accolades, and awards throughout law school, including:

  • The Paul C. Ireton Memorial Award, which recognizes the student in the graduating class having the highest cumulative grade-point average during the student’s entire law school career;
  • The West Publishing Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement, 1995-1996 (3L);
  • The West Publishing Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement, 1994-1995 (2L);
  • The West Publishing Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement, 1993-1994 (1L); and
  • The American Jurisprudence (Am Jur) Award and the Corpus Juris Secundum Award for achieving the highest grade in Civil Procedure (1994).

In addition, Mr. Fannon served on the school’s law review for two years, as a Staff Member during his second year and a State Constitutional Law Editor during his third year.

Also during his third year of law school, Mr. Fannon served as a Judicial Intern for The Honorable Dolores K. Sloviter, who was Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Mr. Fannon earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, magna cum laude, from the University of Colorado at Denver in 1990.
